Reading the Fine Print on Jackson's Life

Fact or Fiction? Reading the Fine Print on Jackson's Life. The first posthumous Michael Jackson bio/tell-all has arrived.

Ian Halperin's "Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson" was already in the works when Jackson died on June 25, but sensing the smell of money to be made, Halperin's publishers rushed the book -- updated to include details about Jackson's final days -- into production and launched it yesterday. Already, the book is ranked No. 2 on Amazon.com's Bestseller List, behind a Glenn Beck-penned anti-Government manifesto and just ahead of Dan Brown's newest thriller.

But why spend your hard-earned ducats on an MJ bio when you can get the most explosive allegations right here?

Halperin claims Jackson's greedy circle of employees and so-called friends are responsible for the one-time King of Pop's death.

Halperin writes that Jackson was gay and would wear elaborate disguises when meeting one of his eight gay lovers, who he forced to sign non-disclosure agreements. "He was always dressed as a woman, and very convincingly, to the point no one else would recognize Michael," said Halperin in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Jackson, a source told Halperin, would meet his lovers in run-down motels because it was all he could afford.

Halperin says Jackson was high on painkillers when he announced his 50-day London concert series.

Jackson considered a move to Canada when polls indicated that most Americans believed he was guilty of sexual child abuse.

Jackson's insurance company forced him to pay a $20 million settlement to his first child molestation accuser.

The author says though he initially set out to "nail" Jackson on child molestation charges, he was unable to uncover any evidence to support the allegations.

Another book -- the updated "Jacko: His Rise and Fall: The Social and Sexual History of Michael Jackson" -- set for release later this month, claims:

Diana Ross once found Jackson "dressed in her stiletto heels and red toreador pants" and that Jackson insisted servants address him as "Miss Ross."

Jackson was warned by Buckingham Palace to stop sending unsolicited gifts to Prince William.

Two additional Jackson titles are due in book stores Friday: The photo heavy "Michael Jackson: Life of a Legend and Michael Jackson" and "Legend, Hero, Icon: A Tribute to the King of Pop." ( washingtonpost.com )
